Description

“The Sun and the Wind” is a children’s book retelling one of Aesop’s fables, also known as “The Wind and the Sun.” In this classic tale, the Sun and the Wind engage in a competition to determine who is stronger. They choose a traveler walking along a road and decide that whoever can get the traveler to remove their coat first will be declared the winner.

The Wind tries to blow the coat off the traveler, but the more the Wind blows, the tighter the traveler holds onto the coat. Then, it’s the Sun’s turn. Instead of force, the Sun shines warmly upon the traveler. Feeling the Sun’s warmth, the traveler willingly removes their coat, and the Sun emerges victorious.

Mairi Mackinnon’s adaptation likely maintains the essence of Aesop’s fable, while Francesca Di Chiara’s illustrations likely bring the story to life with colorful and engaging imagery, making it accessible and enjoyable for young readers.
